Some problems with the way we think about projects
Possibly the reason you are reading this, is because you have a sense that projects, and how they are being managed, are not as they could or should be. Perhaps you've experienced a project that ran over budget or completed late? Maybe the completed project was not received and welcomed as you expected?
All projects experience difficulties due to unavoidable problems. Usually, these difficulties will be problems with technology, especially new technology, that can quickly devour available time and budget. But what if the problems and difficulties arise from a lack of understanding, and making incorrect assumptions about what is a project and what project managers need to do? This can lead to poor decision making and incorrect action at all levels of the organisation.
